In a few short days (Friday, to be precise), advance registration for the 2013 Trail to a Cure Ride/Walk/Run will be closed. Of course, you can still sign up at the event on Saturday (May the 4th), but it’s a tad pricier, and you don’t get entered into the prize drawing.
This year’s event is similar to last year’s except for a few details.
- Both running events are one hour earlier in the day.
- The post-event celebration will be right in Rocheport proper at Rocheport Bike and BBQ until 4 pm, followed by a sunset toast at Les Bourgeois A-Frame Wine Garden.
- We’ll have a new live band!
- We have wristbands and bib numbers this year.
We are selling wrist bands so that friends of participants can enjoy the food if they wish. Riders/Walkers/Runners get a wristband as part of the registration (and a cool t-shirt, some free ice cream, snacks along the trail, and much more). We kindly request that all participants wear the wristbands and bib numbers that we will have at registration/check-in.
We cannot process credit/debit cards, so please bring cash or a check to the trail.
Once again, we will be doing a drawing for a brand new bike. Tickets for that are $5 or 5 for twenty and can be purchased at the trail. You do not have to be present to win.
We are having the popular silent raffle as well, for which tickets are $1 and for which you do have to be present to win.
Leashed, friendly dogs, such as Truman here, are welcome on the trail, provided you provide sanitation services. Why?
Among the trailside booths this year will be Bond Life Sciences Center’s own Dr. Stephan Sarafianos, whose research is made possible, in part, by our fundraisers–that’s YOU! Be sure to stop by and visit to learn more about his team’s work and that of all the Bond LSC researchers at MU.
See you on the trail, where we hope to raise a tidy sum to add to the $64,000 that we’ve already raised to fight HIV/AIDS–together!
PS: Please show your support to Trail to a Cure’s sponsors, and let them you know you appreciate it! We couldn’t do this event without them!
